ADOBALA — The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), thru the Directorate of Community Service and Expert Services, held digital literacy training in Adobala Village, East Nusa Tenggara. This activity, which is a collaboration with the Adobala Village Government, focuses on training citizen journalism and content management. The training will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Adobala Village office.
The community service team from the Visual Cultural Literacy Expertise Group, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design ITB, served as the speaker for this event. Linda Handayani Sukaemi, S.S., M.Hum., who is also the team leader, presented material on video editing. Meanwhile, Harifa Ali Albar Siregar, S.Sos., M.Ds., Ph.D, filled the session with mobile videography training. This activity was also facilitated by Dr. Tri Sulistyaningtyas, S.S., M.Hum., and Yani Suryani, S.S., M.Hum. The Head of Adobala Village, Mr. Hironimus Hawan Teki, expressed his joy at being able to connect with ITB lecturers thru the Desanesha application. "We hope this activity can increase the village's publicity thru news from the community about village activities," he said.
The Desanesha application is a platform developed by ITB with support from the Ministry of Villages. This application serves to connect villages in Indonesia with experts at ITB so that village heads can report their village's needs to receive scientific support.
The training is divided into two sessions: a material session and a practical session. During the material session, participants are taught the important function of citizen journalism in increasing village publicity. Next, the practical session invited participants to create short videos highlighting the unique characteristics of Adobala Village. Participants were divided into several groups, and the videos they produced were then reviewed directly by Mr. Harifa as the speaker.
At the end of the activity, a video competition was held, with the first prize going to the group that created content about using briquettes for cooking. The second prize winner discussed the culture of using elephant ivory as a wedding dowry, and the third prize winner addressed the topic of early childhood education activities in the village.
Linda Handayani Sukaemi, as the event organizer, hopes this activity can increase residents' consistency in sharing village news on social media. "Hopefully, this literacy can increase the consistency of public relations and village residents in sharing village news with the world on social media," she concluded.
