Bandung – Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) received a working visit from the Deputy for Regional Research and Innovation (DRID) of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Dr. Yopi, along with his team on Wednesday (30/07). This visit aims to strengthen the synergy between academics and local governments in promoting research and innovation.
The team from BRIN was received directly by the Director of Community Service and Expert Services at ITB, Prof. Dr.-ing. Zulfiadi Zulhan, S.T., M.T. Accompanying from ITB were the Deputy of Expert Services, Ir. M Agus Kariem, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPM.; the Head of the Subdirectorate of Facilities, Infrastructure, and Information Systems from the Directorate of Research and Innovation, Housny Mubarok, S.T.; and the Head of the Community Service Management Section, Ferdyansyah P., A.Md. from the Directorate of Community Service and Expert Services.
In the meeting, Dr. Yopi expressed appreciation for ITB's active role in supporting problem-solving in the regions. He emphasized the importance of more intensive involvement from universities to support BRIDA (Regional Research and Innovation Agency), which serves as an integrator of policies and research at the regional level.
"The synergy between academics and local governments is crucial to ensure that research results truly address real needs on the ground," said Dr. Yopi.
Zulfiadi Zulhan explained that ITB has conducted various community service activities throughout Indonesia. One of the highlighted initiatives mentioned is Desanesha, a platform designed to gather issues and problems from rural communities and bridge them with technological solutions and expertise from the campus.
Dr. Yopi welcomed the initiative and invited ITB to expand cooperation with local governments thru BRIDA. This is expected to make community service activities more integrated into the regional planning system, thereby making the utilization of research and innovation results more effective.
This visit is expected to mark the beginning of strengthening the strategic partnership between BRIN, ITB, and local governments, in creating real and sustainable solutions for development challenges in various regions of Indonesia.
