Installation of Public Street Lighting in Dusun II, Parungbanteng Village, Purwakarta Regency

Students from Group 10 of the 2024 Community Service Program (KKN) at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) have installed solar-powered Public Street Lighting (PJU) in Parungbanteng Village, Sukasari District, Purwakarta Regency. This initiative aims to enhance the safety and convenience of residents during nighttime activities, considering the village’s winding and steep roads.

A total of 15 PJU units were installed across four key areas: 3 units in Kampung Wangun Tonggoh, 5 units on the route to Kampung Cibodas, another 3 units along the way to Kampung Wangun Tonggoh, and 4 units towards Dusun 1. The installation focused on sharp turns and intersections to alert drivers and encourage cautious driving. These lights utilize solar panels as their power source, operating at 100 watts but running at 50 watts under normal conditions, increasing when the motion sensor detects movement within a 3-4 meter radius.

The installation process took 13 days, from August 8 to August 20, 2024, involving ground excavation, concrete foundation work, and the erection of 5-meter telescopic PJU poles, which were modified to prevent water ingress. The leader of Group 10, Keyza Aimar, hopes that this project will inspire residents to explore solar energy as an alternative power source while also providing valuable hands-on experience for students in engaging and learning with the local community.
