The Timau National Observatory (ONT), located on the slopes of Mount Timau, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), is a modern astronomical observation center built to strengthen Indonesian space research. Apart from functioning as a scientific facility, this observatory is also expected to have a positive impact on the surrounding community. In general, ONT is not only a center for astronomical research, but also has the potential to become an icon of a new tourist destination in NTT, involving the active role of the community in its development and use. Apart from that, it is hoped that it will become an example of a civilization that has strong synergy between science and society. Therefore, there is a need for continuous activities to provide understanding to the community regarding the context of how to maintain the continuity of the ONT function and the local wisdom of the surrounding community. This year, we again approached the community around ONT, especially the Central Amfoang sub-district. This activity aims to explore existing potential and map it as material for further development studies in the future. Apart from that, we also explored what hopes the local community has regarding the development of the ONT area. The results of this year's activities will then be processed and analyzed so that concrete solutions can be directly felt by the community.
Rebuilding good relations with the community around ONT which had been stopped due to Covid19
creating synergy to maintain operational continuity and optimal function of the ONT over the long term
