The Climate Change Response Farmers Association (PPTPI) is an association that trains farmers to be responsive to climate change so that they are able to be strategic in managing their agricultural system. PPTPI members in West Java agreed to regularly record environmental conditions and agricultural land in their respective locations, consisting of: rainfall, environmental temperature, environmental humidity, light intensity, soil pH and soil moisture. In the Sumedang, Subang and Indramayu areas, West Java, there are 60 observation stations for PPTPI members who have been recording manually. To consolidate data and plan planting, they hold meetings every 3 decades.
To support this initiative, in this PPM activity an integrated weather station system was designed and built. This integrated weather station system was built based on the Internet of Things system architecture which consists of an ESP32 microcontroller-based data acquisition and processing module, data communication via MQTT, microcontroller connection with a remote PostgreSQL database via Node-RED, as well as a dashboard built using Grafana software. Observed variables include daily rainfall, average humidity, average air temperature, wind speed, wind strength, atmospheric pressure, brightness, and daily dominant wind direction. Data is displayed on the Grafana dashboard which can produce attractive and dynamic graphic displays according to the latest data. This weather station sends data via the Internet of Things system and can be accessed by farmers via mobile phones or computers, thereby supporting the recording and consolidation of environmental data from three separate locations, namely Pamulihan village, Conggeang and the ITB campus.
The system This is a pilot that will be managed by PPTPI Sumedang to build and manage climate change Big Data to support the planning and management of their agricultural systems. This activity is also equipped with training and technical assistance so that farmers are able to operate the system and process data in Pamulihan Village. It is hoped that this system support can increase food security and farmers' ability to face climate change.
Building an integrated weather station system for the PPTPI Sumedang and Indramayu communities. Carrying out weather station operation training for the PPTPI Sumedang and Indramayu communities
Increasing competence in developing a weather station system for observing climate conditions, which is used to adapt agricultural activities in West Java to climate change as an effort to maintain and increase agricultural yields and food security in West Java.
