Activity Summary

Fishermen in certain months every year have dramatically decreased until income. In this condition, fishermen do various efforts to remain by utilizing all the potential around it. In the district of Sei Kakap Kalimantan Barat, during the difficult month the fisherman was looking for a nipple worm (namalycastic). The search for this worm becomes an alternative by fishermen because the price is relatively expensive. The results of the first field observation in 2011 found that the search results of Nipah worms felt diminished from year to year. This indicates that there has been a decline in the population of nipah worms in nature. Cultivation is the right effort for commercialization and preventing over fishing (over fishing) nipah worms. The aspects of reproductive physiology that will apply include the selection of prospective parent, artificial fertilization techniques and media modifications. The selection of male and female worms at the initial stage to guarantee good and good larvae quality. Artificial fertilization is the most important stage for multiplication of larvae and individuals. Cultivation media must be modified in accordance with its natural habitat characteristics, especially the condition of the temperature and salinity of the media. Furthermore, it will be designed a simple and inexpensive cultivation installation, so that cultivation can be done on a household scale.
