Activity Summary

Mordenit minerals originating from Sukabumi natural green stone which was founded in Indonesia had been tested to remove iron and manganese from natural groundwater. This study uses two types of adsorbents, namely adsorbents active physically and nature mordenit. Mordenit physical activation is done by heating at a temperature of 400-600o C for two hours. The batch system experiment was also done as a preliminary experiment. The batch system proves that mordenit minerals are active and natural able to reduce iron and manganese concentrations of natural groundwater. Then continuous trials used a lower flow system with a constant flow speed of 45 ml / minute. Iron & Manganese allowance efficiency uses a continuous reactor for physical activation and consecutive natural mordenit is 1.38-1.99% / minute & 0.8-1.49% / minute and 2.26% / minute & 1.37 - 2.26% / minute. In addition, regeneration treatment using the NH4CL solution succeeded in increasing iron & manganese allowance efficiency to 1.98% / minute & 1.77- 1.90% / minute and 2.25% / minute & 2.02-2, 21% / minute on mordenit physically activated and natural mordenit. . Furthermore, new Mordenit activation was carried out by soaking mordenit in the NH4CL solution. This chemical activation shows iron & manganese allowance efficiency 2.42- 2.75% / minute & 0.96 - 2.67% / minute and 2.66 - 2.78% / minute & 1.34 - 2.32% / Minutes of Iron & Manganese allowance efficiency per detention time for mordenit which is enabled chemically and naturally.
