Activity Summary

Improvement in tomato agribusiness is supply chain activities, namely activities to integrate suppliers, warehouse entrepreneurs and other storage efficiently, so the products produced and distributed to consumers can be exactly quality, quantity, location and time, to minimize costs but can satisfy consumer needs (David et al., 2000 in Santoso, 2013). The success of supply chain management is determined by the sustainability of supply from farmer groups to companies or entrepreneurs who sell and distribute products to the hands of consumers. The importance of sustainability of tomato supply to supermarkets determines the sustainability of supply chain structures. Technical and conceptual abilities that must be increased are mastering the knowledge and skills of SOP-GHP (standard operatonal procedure good handling practices) or good postharvest handling, agricultural production planning (planting schedules, business scale and farming calculations), making soup for supervision, evaluation and control all production activities until tomatoes are ready to send to the company. Therefore, the Community Service Program is needed (2016) to improve the managerial capabilities of the farmer group around the ITB Jatinangor campus. The selection of tomato commodities itself is because it is a high-value fruit vegetable and supermarket requires a very large supply of tomatoes every day.

Testimonials

The initial mapping results obtained data: (1) so far the chain structure of the chain of tomato peasants through the city by following tomato price fluctuations in the Caringin parent market so that farmers get low profits, (2) the quality of the harvest of some farmers (especially members of the TIRTA farmer group Mulya Tani) is quite good and can be supplied to the supermarket so that it should be able to produce more benefits for farmers, (3) farmer groups are constrained by finance and technical in accessing supermarkets or packing tomatoes, (4) managerial capabilities in low supply sustainability.
