Indonesian petroleum production continues to decline due to the depletion of petroleum reserves. This has made Indonesia as a net imported fuel oil (BBM). Ironically the growth rate of motorized vehicles as the largest users of fuel oil (BBM) are very accelerative every year along with increasing economic growth. Therefore, the growth rate of fuel consumption needs to be pressured. The use of low-pressure gas fuel as one of the alternative energy sources is being applied in Kubu Raya Regency with supervision of the FTI-ITB production system laboratory, namely for the purposes of fishermen transportation on coastal and upstream rivers. This potential is a solution for the government to reduce fuel consumption. However, the security of the use of these tools is still often feared by fishermen. Fishermen need a certainty that the use of gas fuel converter tools will not endanger the safety of fishermen. Therefore, a test is needed for the performance of the tool that has been developed. In this study, the risks of defect will be identified based on the critical factors of the gas converter tool.
